The fragrance was created in 1830 by the founder of the D’Orsay brand, Count Alfred d’Orsay, for the beautiful Lady Marguerite de Blessington, with whom he was madly in love. Unfortunately, she was married, so their love always remained a secret. The name of the fragrance also remained a secret, as it was covered with a blue strip, hence the modern name Etiquette Bleue.
