It is safe to say that if Ms. Annick Goutal had not become a perfumer, she would have definitely become famous in another field. So from early childhood the girl was prepared for a career as a musician. She played the piano perfectly and later even became the winner of a competition at the Versailles Conservatory, but for the sake of justice it is worth noting that these successes made happy not Annick herself, but her father, who dreamed of his daughter’s creative laurels. She spends her free time in her father’s confectionery shop, where she puts sweets into bags, probably from this occupation the corporate style of product packaging originates. Further vicissitudes of fate introduce her to David Bailey, a famous photographer, who paved the way for Annick into the modeling business. But after a while the image of a glamorous diva got tired of our heroine, she is engaged in antique business, gets married, gives birth to a daughter, in a word, lives an ordinary life. This continued until 1977, when our heroine, together with her friends, opens a small cosmetics production, soon the idea captivates Annick Goutal so much that she decides to get a full-fledged perfume education, for this purpose she goes not somewhere, but to the perfume Mecca of the world – the city of Grasse. Coming to the profession quite late, she learns all the intricacies of the complex craft for four years under the guidance of master Henri Sorsan.
Annick produced her first professional works at home, but in December 1980 her first shop was opened, in the house of the old library. Of course, Annick Goutal was not savvy in business, and she was a beginner in perfumery, but her fame spread like wildfire. Bohemia began to be interested in the original selective master, who was just starting his own career. By the way, the brand never had many fans “from the street”, instead, their audience is made up of knowledgeable and wealthy people.
Among the main works of the brand, one can note the Annick Goutal Muguet eau de toilette, a delicate floral and berry bouquet captivates with its shyness and elusive French charm. The perfume is beautiful in the daytime and evening atmosphere, then it opens up especially brightly. It can be compared to a light calico dress thrown over fragile female shoulders.
Among the huge number of products, the brand can offer Annick Goutal Duel eau de toilette for men. The forest aroma is full of noble bitterness of artemisia with delicate petitgrain and iris roots, powdered with leather. With its wonderful variety, the eau de toilette is incredibly elegant and light. Unfortunately, Annick Goutal herself is no longer with us, her daughter Camille continued her work. She continued and expanded her mother’s business and now boutiques have opened in many countries around the world, and the perfume line has been expanded to include skin and body care products, gift sets, scented candles, diffusers, and many other items.
