The famous outrageous designer, legendary perfumer and simply extraordinary personality Franck Boclet is a true fashion icon. He is now best known for his ultra-masculine clothing collections, in which biker aesthetics are combined with 80s motifs. This special style was developed by the master for years, at the beginning of his career the master developed clothing models for the company Kenzo, later Franck became known for his work with the brand Correggio. The third stage of his career was working for the fashion designer of men’s clothing Francesco Smalto, for whom Boclet created a number of collections and achieved key positions in this company, in particular, he became the creative director of this brand. He also worked with Arrow and Ungaro.
Boclet founded his own men’s fashion design house in 2010, offering a unique Boclet aesthetic that combines tradition with anarchy. But the main events begin to unfold in 2011, when the doors of a fashion house open, breaking “normality” and stereotypes. Combining his two passions, Boclet combines the eternal traditions of Rock & Rai fashion with the traditional world of luxury. According to the master himself, his style is called “Neo Dandyism”, you can accept this phrase or not, but he has gained popularity. Stunning collections of men’s clothing and of course perfumes have not left anyone indifferent, they probably became the pinnacle of the creative path and vast experience gained as a result of many years of work. “We decided that my name would be the beginning of an original story that would tell about my personal and professional life, about the experiences I have had and the journeys I have taken. Given that there is always something happening in life, this is a good place to start.” Boclet makes it clear that he is bridging the gap between his creative self and the rock and roll paradise of the eighties and nineties that live in his soul.
There is a close connection between the inspiration of the brand and Franck’s identity – his style, his attitude and his passion for rock helped create a line of signature fragrances called Rock’ N Raï, directly inspired by various iconic rock sounds throughout history, such as David Bowie, The Clash and the Rolling Stones. It is this passion for different forms of art that helps create lines of fragrances like this one. The simplicity of the square bottle with a slight masculine touch, but all the fragrances that make up the house are gender-fluid, and this combines elegance and edginess that add such light to Boclet fragrances.
The very first Franck Boclet series of the new perfume brand Franck Boclet was created in 2013, and the newest one in 2024. Franck Boclet fragrances were created in collaboration with perfumers Bruno Herve, Melanie Leroux, Fabienne Bourcier, Alexis Dadier and Sidonie Lancesseur. In 2013, one of the first fragrances was released, called Franck Boclet Patchouli, and it was not just a “trial” debut fragrance, but a real bomb planted under the entire world perfumery. From the first period of sales, this fragrance attracted the attention of many customers and marked the main motives of the company’s creativity: impulse, passion and courage.
In the same year, another creation of the brand was released, called Franck Boclet Leather, the most exhaustive name, behind which stands a true harmony of impulse and surge. A pulsating leather melody lies against the background of a citrus introduction and the magnetic attraction of flowers. Fans note that this is not just another leather perfume, but a new word in the industry, offering a new look at familiar components.
Among the new products, one cannot fail to mention the unisex perfumed water Franck Boclet Rebel, created at the intersection of oriental sweetness and European restraint. Saffron is usually combined with heavy burning rose and vanilla sweetness. Insanely beautiful perfume for true connoisseurs. However, it should not be bought without a test, like all other creations of the brand, this pyramid has a special character that may not appeal to everyone.
Despite the provocative name, Cocaine eau de parfum is a very calm and balanced aroma. If we compare it with a person. then we get a middle-aged man, wearing an old leather jacket, worn jeans and pointed cowboy boots. Sometimes he is not restrained and does not shave, but you can trust him as yourself. Tobacco with caramelized orange create a fantastic sound, supported by creamy tuberose and red berries.
The touching and pleasant novelty Franck Boclet Flowers, as the name suggests, conveys floral motifs. A sweet, lingering and sexy fragrance for men and women, perfect for cool weather, when floral honey is not suffocating, but opens up as effectively and appropriately as possible. The trail hides the magical essence of musk and Arabian sandalwood. A comfortable and calm perfume for adults.
Spending a long time in his riad in Marrakech, the scents of the city prompted Boclet to create Blue Oriental, directly related to the scents of the city, which you cannot and do not want to miss when visiting Morocco. “This woody, spicy oriental touch allowed us to create different experimental elements in the Blue Oriental line – one minty, one with orange blossom essence, and two more with more woody and spicy tones, mixing cedar and saffron for tenderness, creating a balance between gentle and strong, and peacefully coexisting together.” “We decided to show this experience and changes in our lives through fragrances. The first step in creating a fragrance is finding personal stories and transforming them into a scent that will remind you of that time. For Blue Oriental, the first step was to express my love for Morocco, specifically Marrakech, and fill my mind with memories, experiences, and moments from my many years there. Visiting the spice markets and inhaling the vibrant aromas of saffron, mint, and orange blossom. Spending days sitting in traditional and timeless Turkish baths and walking through rooms filled with rose oil, then remembering the essence, enjoying the taste and aroma of orange water around you.”
It is these scents that become memories, and these memories become bottles of fragrance that you can take with you wherever you go, almost as if a moment in time has stopped, and has simply been suspended to linger on your skin while you go about your daily business.
The perfume industry depends on serious and ethical research and development. Months, if not years, can be spent gathering information, researching, sourcing and collaborating with companies of all sizes around the world to create blends. However, ensuring that all stages of research and development are carried out to the highest ethical standards has always been a top priority.
“We produce everything ourselves in France, with our own production that we manage, and we have quality checks at the highest possible level. We have natural materials and quality control, the concentrate has to pass various tests and qualifications before it can be transferred to the next stage of production. One of the longest processes is going through the tests through different flavors – it can take anywhere from three to six to eight months of small trials before it can be approved in its final form. We are confident that we can offer the highest rating of the product in the best packaging.”
“Creating fragrances is not the same as creating clothes. With clothes you are only obligated to create for two seasons. With fragrances you have complete control and you don’t have to think about it.” At Boclet, our image is more woody, oriental and sweet. Boclet is a rock, spicy and woody fragrance – that’s why I like Morocco because it’s the country of my spirit.”
The exact color of Blue Oriental is inspired by long walks in the Majorelle Gardens, Berber scarves and the blue city of Chefchaouen. Blue Oriental is also the signature blue color of the Franck Boclet concept store and boutique in Franck Boclet’s hometown of Paris.
Franck Boclet is the only artistic director in the fashion industry to expand his activities and create niche fragrances. With the aim of creating fragrances with a strong personality, Franck Boclet Fragrances offers a sensuality that connects the mind, body and soul, offering a wide range of fragrances. In January 2019, Franck Boclet opened his first offline store and boutique in a refined yet authentic setting, where perfumes, clothing, shoes and accessories for both women and men are presented on two levels. All of Franck Boclet’s creations are presented, while at the same time they are open to several other designers who showcase their products.
It is safe to say that there is no such brand in the world. A unique style, bright and sometimes controversial compositions evoke a special mood. They are created for people of a new generation, a special generation, before whom horizons are opening.
