The Italian fashion house Trussardi was founded in 1911 by Dante Trussardi as a glove workshop. In the 1960s, Dante Trussardi’s grandson Nicola took over the company and made the family brand even more successful. He expanded Trussardi’s activities to include bags, garment bags, home accessories, and more. Nicola personally designed both fashion and accessories, including perfume bottles and packaging. In 1980, the house’s first fragrance, named Trussardi, was released. Givaudan perfumers created a floral chypre with basil, orange, mandarin, and clary sage in the top notes; iris, tuberose, mimosa, rose, and jasmine in the heart; and oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, and sandalwood in the base. The bottle was designed by Rocco Bormioli. In 1983, its first flanker, a leather chypre with geranium, incense, and tobacco, was released under the name Trussardi Uomo. One of the main fragrances in the Trussardi line is the aldehyde-floral fragrance Trussardi Donna, created by perfumer Jean Guichard and released in 1994. Over the years, the brand has released flankers of its classic fragrances. In 2011, Trussardi Donna was relaunched as Trussardi Donna 2011. This floral-fruity fragrance with jasmine and citrus was created by perfumer Nathalie Lorson. Trussardi Uomo was also relaunched in 2011, with the year added to the new fragrance’s name. As of 2019, Trussardi fragrances are produced by the Italian company Angelini Beauty.
